Google has rolled out the latest Android security update for April 2025 across its Pixel devices. This follows a major update and feature drop released last month.
The new update also fixes several issues that users experienced after the previous update.
Devices Getting the Update
The April 2025 security update is being sent to many Pixel devices worldwide. These include:
Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a
Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold
Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet
The newly launched Pixel 9a
The update is being released in phases, so depending on your device and network provider, it might take a few days to arrive.
New Features and Fixes
This update brings several improvements:
Biometric Update: Fixed issues where the fingerprint scanner wasn’t recognizing prints properly.
Camera Fixes: Improved stability when zooming in and out.
Brightness Fix: Solved screen flickering that happened while using some video apps.
Lock Screen Fix: Resolved overlapping of weather and clock information.
User Switching Bug: Fixed a glitch when creating or switching users using the Pixel Launcher.
Samsung Starts Rolling Out Android 15 Update
Samsung has also begun rolling out its One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, for its devices.
The update was first released in South Korea on April 7, and users in Europe have started receiving it. North America (USA and Canada) started getting the update from April 10.
The rollout in India is expected to begin soon, starting with the Galaxy S24 series and newer foldable phones.

In April: Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5
In May 2025: Galaxy S22 series, S21 series, and S23 FE
This new update features a cleaner design, improved widgets on the home screen, and a new feature called ‘Now Bar’ on the lock screen.
This lets users check fitness and music updates without unlocking the phone.
