Software company Google is making its Photos app smarter with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company has now launched a new and fun feature called “Me Meme.”
With this feature, users can create personalized memes using their own photos. This means users can now appear in memes themselves, and these memes can also go viral.
The Me Meme feature is a generative AI tool that creates funny and relatable memes by placing user-selected photos into popular meme templates.
Information about this feature first appeared in October 2025, and after nearly three months, Google has officially rolled it out in the app.
Me Meme Added to Google Photos’ AI Tools
Me Meme has been added to the growing list of AI-powered features in Google Photos. Other AI tools already available in the app include Create with AI, Photo to Video, Remix, Collage,
and Automatic Enhance. Compared to these tools, the Me Meme feature is focused more on entertainment and fun.
How the Me Meme Feature Works
To use Me Meme, users need to select a photo or portrait from their gallery. After that, they can tap on the “Create” or “Meme” option.
Users can choose from ready-made meme templates or upload their own template. They can also edit the caption, and the AI will automatically generate the meme with text in a classic meme style.
Google’s Statement on Privacy
Google has clarified that Me Meme is a completely optional feature. It does not automatically create memes from photos. The feature only works with photos that the user manually selects.
AI-generated memes remain inside the Google Photos app unless the user chooses to save or share them.
Google has not yet confirmed whether these AI-generated memes will count toward Google Photos’ storage limit, but existing policies usually treat such files as new content.
Currently, this feature is available only in the US, and Google may roll it out to other countries in the future.
