Google is bringing its Gemini AI magic to Maps, and Indian users are among the first to experience it.
The tech giant has announced a bunch of new features that make travelling smoother, smarter, and more interactive.
Smarter Searches with Gemini AI
Gemini AI is now part of Google Maps, making it more conversational and helpful than ever.
You can ask it natural questions — like “find a petrol pump nearby” or “show me restaurants with vegetarian options” — and it will instantly pull up the best results.
Gemini also connects with other apps, so you can access more features hands-free while driving. Need details about a place? Just ask.
Gemini will share reviews, photos, and other key info without you having to scroll or type.
The update is coming soon to both Android and iOS users in India.
New Road Safety and Navigation Tools
Beyond the AI upgrades, Google is also improving road safety and travel convenience.
It’s working with the government to alert users about accident-prone zones in cities like Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh.
Maps will now display official speed limits using local traffic data, starting in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
Better traffic alerts are also on the way, with India being the first region to get them on Android.
To make rides even smoother, Google has added a new two-wheeler navigation icon and improved voice guidance across flyovers — fixing one of Maps’ biggest pain points for riders.
