Google is transforming the way Indians search online with two new updates designed to make searching smarter, easier, and more conversational.
The tech giant is expanding its AI Mode to seven new Indian languages and introducing Search Live, a real-time feature that lets users interact with Google using both voice and camera.
AI Mode Expands to 7 New Indian Languages
Google’s AI Mode, which uses advanced artificial intelligence to answer complex questions, is already a hit in India.
Since launching in English and Hindi, users have been spending three times longer exploring topics through AI Mode compared to traditional search.
Now, Google is making it even more accessible by adding Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Unlike basic translation tools, AI Mode runs on Google’s Gemini model for Search, which understands local languages and context to give more accurate and meaningful results.
The rollout will begin within the next week, enabling millions more Indians to search in their native languages.
Introducing Search Live: Real-Time Voice and Camera Search
Alongside AI Mode, Google is launching Search Live in India in English and Hindi.
This new feature lets users ask questions using both their voice and camera — creating a truly interactive, real-time search experience.
For example, if someone wants to make an iced matcha at home, they can show their ingredients to Google and ask, “What’s the best way to mix these?” The AI will respond with step-by-step guidance instantly.
To try Search Live, open the Google app, tap the ‘Live’ icon under the search bar, or use Lens and select ‘Live’ at the bottom.
Google says the feature will gradually roll out to more users in the coming weeks.
A More Intuitive Future for Search in India
India has always been a leader in voice and visual search, and with these updates, Google is taking that experience to the next level.
By combining AI-powered understanding with real-time interaction, Google aims to make searching more natural and accessible for everyone — whether it’s for learning, exploring, or solving everyday problems.
With AI Mode in more local languages and Search Live bringing camera and voice together, Google is ensuring that search feels as easy as having a conversation.
