Google launches affordable Google One Lite Plan with 30GB Storage

Google has introduced a new, affordable cloud storage option called the “Google One Lite” plan.

This plan is a cheaper alternative to the basic Google One subscription, offering users 30GB of extra storage for just Rs 59 per month.

It is ideal for those who need more space than the 15GB of free storage provided by Google.

Previously, the standard Google One plan provided 100GB of storage for Rs 130 per month.

The new Lite version offers a cost-effective solution for users who require up to 30GB of additional space.

Plan Details and Limitations

The Google One Lite plan was first spotted in the Google Photos app in July and is currently available to a limited number of users.

This plan allows users to store files on Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Drive.

However, unlike the standard Google One plan, which allows sharing with up to 5 other people, the Lite plan does not offer any sharing options.

It is meant solely for individual use, making it different from the more flexible 100GB plan.

Additionally, Google offers a 1-month trial period for the Google One Lite plan, similar to its other plans.

However, there is no annual subscription option available for the Lite plan at this time, unlike other Google One plans that provide up to 26% savings on an annual subscription.

Features and Limitations

The Google One Lite plan provides 30GB of storage, but it has some limitations compared to other Google One plans.

It does not allow sharing storage with other people, and certain features available in other plans are not included.

This makes it a more basic plan suitable for individual use.

Unlike the Google One AI Premium plan, which offers 2TB of storage along with advanced features like the AI tool “Gemini” and the Magic Editor in Google Photos, the Lite plan does not include any AI features.

The Google One AI Premium plan is priced at ₹1,950 per month.

Pricing and Availability

The Google One Lite plan is currently available to a limited number of users, with a free one-month trial provided by Google.

The monthly charge for the plan is ₹59, and a 100GB plan costs ₹118, making Google One Lite about half the price.

An annual plan is available for ₹589, and some users have reported an introductory offer where the first two months cost just ₹15.

This plan is expected to be rolled out to more users soon, but for now, only a select group can access it.
