Google is adding a new feature to Gemini that makes the assistant more helpful for everyday use.

The feature is called Personal Intelligence, and it allows Gemini to connect with certain Google apps to give more personal and relevant answers, instead of generic responses.

This update is currently rolling out as a beta and is available only to eligible users in the US.

What Is Personal Intelligence?

Personal Intelligence lets Gemini use information from selected Google apps such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search.

This helps the assistant understand context better without users having to explain everything again.

The feature works only when the user allows it.

Gemini does not automatically scan data.

Users decide when the assistant can look into connected apps to answer a question.

For example, Gemini can help find details from an old email, recall information from a photo, or suggest content based on past searches.

How It Helps in Daily Tasks

Personal Intelligence works in two main ways.

First, it can pull specific details like dates, names, or locations from emails, photos, or search history.

Second, it can combine information from different sources such as text, images, and videos to answer a single question.

This makes daily tasks easier.

Users can quickly find documents, plan trips, or remember past information without manually searching through apps.

It is especially useful for people who already use Google services regularly.

Privacy and User Control

Google says Personal Intelligence is turned off by default.

Users must enable it manually and select which apps they want to connect.

These permissions can be changed or removed at any time.

The company also states that data from Gmail or Photos is not used to train Gemini’s AI models.

The information is accessed only to respond to specific user requests.

When Gemini uses app data, it shows the source so users can verify the information.

For sensitive topics, such as health-related queries, Gemini avoids assumptions and uses personal data only when the user clearly asks for it.

Who Can Use Personal Intelligence Now?

Right now, Personal Intelligence is available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US.

It works across web, Android, and iOS platforms.

Google has confirmed that it plans to expand the feature to more users, regions, and eventually the free tier in the future.
