Google Bring New ‘Deep Think’ Feature in Gemini AI App

Google has introduced a new advanced feature called ‘Deep Think’ in its Gemini AI app, which is currently available to Ultra subscribers.

This feature is built on an AI model that previously achieved bronze-level performance at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) — a global competition where highly complex mathematical problems are solved.

Faster and Smarter AI for Complex Tasks

Google explained that earlier, this AI used to take hours to solve difficult problems. But now, it’s been optimized for the Gemini app to work faster and more efficiently.

Deep Think can now provide quicker answers using multi-step reasoning and deep analysis.

This makes it especially useful for programmers, researchers, and content creators.

What is Parallel Thinking?

Deep Think uses a method called Parallel Thinking. This allows the AI to consider multiple possibilities at once, helping it explore different approaches to a problem.

As a result, the AI becomes more flexible and creative in areas like coding, scientific research, and problem-solving.

How to Use Deep Think

Activating this feature is simple:

Open the Gemini app on your mobile.

Select the Pro model (2.5).

Go to Settings and enable Deep Think.

Google mentioned that while daily usage may be limited at first, the feature will soon be available to developers and educational institutions via the Gemini API.

Sundar Pichai Confirms the Launch

Google CEO Sundar Pichai officially announced the feature on X (formerly Twitter).

He shared that the current version of Deep Think had performed well enough in internal testing to reach gold-medal level at the IMO.

He called it ideal for tackling complex code, analyzing scientific literature, and even jokingly referred to it as a “great Friday night companion” for AI enthusiasts.

More Safety and Reliability

According to Google, the new version of the model comes with enhanced safety filters and more objective reasoning compared to earlier versions.

While it may sometimes avoid answering certain basic questions to stay cautious, it offers a more reliable and thoughtful AI experience.

This update is a big leap forward from the Gemini 2.5 demo shown at Google I/O 2025.

With Deep Think, Google aims to bring Olympiad-level AI thinking not just to experts, but also to everyday users.
