GNCAP 2023 Ratings: Top Safety Ratings Awarded to Indian Cars (Check Full List)

The Global New Car Assessment Program (GNCAP) has unveiled the safety ratings for Indian cars in 2023, highlighting models that have secured a full 5-star rating in crash tests, including both adult and child safety assessments.

Tata Motors’ Safari and Harrier, Hyundai Verna, and the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia duo have emerged as the safest cars in India this year.

Tata Safari and Harrier

Tata Motors’ Safari and Harrier have clinched 5-star ratings in the GNCAP 2023 assessments.

Scoring 33.05 out of 34 in the adult safety test and 45.00 out of 49 in the child safety test, both SUVs are equipped with essential safety features, including 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and more.

They stand out as the first models in India to achieve a full score in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (B-NCAP).

Hyundai Verna

The Hyundai Verna secured a full rating in the Global NCAP, attaining a score of 28.18 out of 34 in the adult safety test and 42.00 out of 49 in the child safety test.

With over 30 standard safety features and more than 65 overall features, the new Hyundai Verna emphasizes safety, including 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, traction control, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia

The Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia, sharing the same platform and engine, both achieved 5-star ratings in the GNCAP 2023.

Scoring 29.71 out of 34 in the adult safety test and 42.00 out of 49 in the child safety test, these cars boast features such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, traction control, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
