Previously, obtaining a visa could take up to 9 months, but this is now set to be shortened to just two weeks.

Addressing Worker Shortages
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has emphasized the urgent need for skilled workers in Germany.
To address this issue, the visa processing time has been cut.
Data from the German Economic Institute for 2023 reveals that there are approximately 600,000 job vacancies in Germany.
The lengthy visa process had been affecting the timely training and recruitment of skilled workers.
Economic Impact and Investment
The German Economic Institute notes that delays in visa processing are impacting Indian companies that have made significant investments in Germany.
Quick visa issuance is crucial for these companies to bring in specialists and meet labor demands.
The institute warns that if job vacancies remain unfilled, the German economy could face a loss of up to 74 billion euros.
As of June 2024, the Federal Foreign Office has issued 80,000 work visas, with 50% going to skilled workers.
