The new financial year 2026-27 begins on April 1, and with it, several important changes in Uttar Pradesh will affect schools, highways, health care, farmers, and daily life.

Here’s a quick guide to the key updates.

Schools Get a Makeover

The new academic session in Uttar Pradesh schools also starts on April 1.

Along with the usual classes, the state is introducing new teaching methods and safety measures.

Cyber clubs will be set up in schools to protect students from online dangers, and mobile game usage will be monitored.

Vocational education will now be mandatory for students in grades 9 to 11, helping them gain practical skills alongside regular studies.

New Holiday Calendar for Schools

The government has released the new holiday calendar for 2026.

This year, there will be 24 official holidays and 31 optional holidays.

Important school exams are scheduled as follows:

Unit tests: July

Semi-annual exams: September-October

Board exams: January-February

Travel and Highways

Starting April 1, toll charges on national highways and expressways will increase.

Light vehicles, private cars, and commercial vehicles will have to pay ₹5 to ₹45 extra at toll plazas.

Vehicles with monthly or annual passes will not be affected.

Boost for Farmers

The state government has increased the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat by ₹160 per quintal, raising it to ₹2,585 per quintal.

This move is expected to help farmers earn more and improve their income.

Health Campaigns

The Health Department is launching a major campaign against communicable diseases in April.

Teams will go door-to-door, spreading awareness about cleanliness and conducting health screenings.

This initiative aims to improve public health and prevent outbreaks across the state.

These changes are designed to impact daily life positively—from safer schools and better farmer incomes to improved healthcare and updated toll rates.

Residents and students are advised to stay informed and plan accordingly.
