The Haryana government has announced major relief for poor families in the state. Under new schemes, Below Poverty Line (BPL) families will receive a 100-yard plot and a free solar panel.

Free Solar Panel Will Provide Up to 200 Units of Electricity

CM Saini said that families earning less than ₹1.80 lakh per year will get a 2 kW solar panel for free under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.

These panels will be installed on the roofs of the houses and can generate up to 200 units of electricity every month.

The central government offers a subsidy of up to ₹70,000 for solar panel installation. The Haryana government will pay the remaining cost, so the families won’t need to spend anything.

Government teams will visit villages to identify eligible families and install the panels at their homes.

The goal is to provide solar panels to 1 lakh households, and so far about 26,000 families have already benefited. With these panels, families will see a big reduction in electricity bills.

100-Yard Plot for Landless Families

In another big announcement, CM Saini said the government will give 100-yard plots to 1 lakh Antyodaya families who do not own land.

These will be provided under the Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme.

Along with the plot, beneficiaries will receive legal documents (authority letters). They can also apply for a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The cost of each plot is fixed at ₹1 lakh, which beneficiaries can pay within one year of getting the authority letter.

How Many Families Will Benefit?

As per state government data, there are around 50 lakh families in Haryana with an annual income of ₹1.80 lakh or less.

This means that lakhs of families can benefit from these schemes. The government will soon begin selecting the next 1 lakh families to receive the free plots.

These initiatives from the Haryana government are expected to provide significant support to the poor and weaker sections of society.
