Flights are finally set to take off from Noida’s much-awaited airport.
After delays and multiple approvals, operations at the Noida International Airport are now expected to begin as early as next month.
Airlines have already started preparing to launch domestic routes, bringing the airport one step closer to becoming a major aviation hub.
Flights to Start Soon: What We Know
A recent board meeting by Yamuna International Airport Limited confirmed that domestic and cargo flights are likely to begin by the end of May.
Three airlines are in talks to start operations, with plans to connect around 17 cities in the initial phase.
The exact list of cities hasn’t been finalised yet, but authorities have asked for a clear roadmap, including ticket booking timelines, to be prepared quickly.
Approval Hurdles Still Remain
Before flights can officially begin, a few key approvals are still pending.
The Airport Security Program (ASP) needs clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
There are also some concerns raised by the Home Ministry, including issues related to foreign CEOs involved in the project.
Officials say these challenges are being addressed, and approvals are expected within this month.
Once cleared, flight operations can begin without further delay.
Big Expansion Plans in Progress
The airport is not just opening — it’s expanding fast.
Authorities have approved a ₹300 crore investment to build 25 new aircraft parking stands over the next two years.
At present, the airport already has:
28 parking stands
3 dedicated for cargo
25 for commercial aircraft
This expansion will significantly boost the airport’s capacity.
Built for High Traffic and Growth
The airport is being designed to handle large-scale operations from day one.
10 aerobridges have been installed for smooth passenger movement
The runway can handle around 30 takeoffs and landings per hour
This means the airport is fully prepared to manage heavy traffic and future growth.
What This Means for Travellers
For passengers in and around Noida and Delhi-NCR, this is big news.
More flight options, better connectivity, and reduced congestion at other airports are expected once operations begin.
With flights to 17 cities planned in the first phase, the new airport could quickly become a key travel hub in North India.
