Dense fog and poor visibility across Delhi and many parts of North India caused major disruptions to flight operations this morning.

Several airlines have issued travel advisories, asking passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Airlines have warned that foggy conditions may continue over the next few days, which could lead to delays or cancellations.

Airlines Issue Travel Advisories

SpiceJet informed passengers that dense fog in Delhi could affect all arrivals, departures, and connecting flights.

The airline advised travelers to regularly check flight updates on its official website.

Air India also cautioned passengers about low visibility conditions that may impact flights to and from Delhi, as well as some airports in northern and eastern India.

The airline said weather conditions could remain challenging in the coming days.

IndiGo reported disruptions at Chandigarh airport due to poor visibility.

As a safety measure, the airline cancelled some flights for the day.

Support Measures for Passengers

To reduce inconvenience, airlines have put special arrangements in place.

Passengers facing delays will receive assistance throughout the day to help with alternate travel plans.

Under Air India’s “FogCare” initiative, passengers will get advance alerts on their mobile phones if their flights are expected to be delayed.

They can also reschedule their flight without extra charges or opt for a full refund.

Delhi Airport Issues Warning

Delhi Airport confirmed that flight operations were being conducted under Category III conditions, which are used during very low visibility.

Such conditions often lead to delays and cancellations.

Passengers were advised to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest updates.

Airport authorities said they are coordinating with all stakeholders to minimize disruption.

Fog Likely to Continue

Flight disruptions have become frequent due to thick smog and fog covering Delhi in recent days.

According to the India Meteorological Department, light to moderate fog is expected on the mornings of December 18, 20, and 23.

The weather department has also predicted moderate to dense fog on December 21 and 22, suggesting that travel delays may continue for a few more days.
