Extension of Free Aadhaar update Service

Good news for Aadhaar card holders! If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar card for free yet, you can still take advantage of this offer.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for the free Aadhaar update service.

UIDAI announced this update on social media platform X, informing users that they can continue to update their Aadhaar cards for free.

New Deadline for Free Update

The previous deadline for free Aadhaar updates was September 14, 2024. This has now been extended by three months, so you can avail of this service until December 14, 2024.

UIDAI recommends that all Aadhaar card holders update their information if their Aadhaar cards are 10 years old or older.

This deadline extension provides more time for you to make necessary updates without any cost.

Update Aadhaar Online Only

It’s important to note that the free update facility is available only through online means. You can update your Aadhaar for free using the My Aadhaar portal or UIDAI’s official website.

However, if you choose to update your Aadhaar at an Aadhaar center, this service will not be free. For updates involving iris and biometric details, you will need to visit an Aadhaar center.

How to Update Aadhaar for Free

1) Visit the UIDAI website at https://uidai.gov.in/.

2) Go to the My Aadhaar portal on the homepage and log in using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

3) Review your details. If they are correct, tick the confirmation box.

4) If there are any errors in your demographic information, select your identity documents from the drop-down menu.

5) Upload the required documents.

6) Once the documents are uploaded, the update process will be completed.

7) You will receive a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN) to track the status of your Aadhaar update.
