The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a special one-time enrolment scheme to help employers bring eligible employees under EPF coverage for past periods of non-compliance.
This initiative opens a six-month compliance window and is designed to make it easier for employers to regularise employees who were previously left out.
One-Time Enrolment Window: EES-2025
Called the Employees’ Enrolment Scheme (EES)-2025, this scheme allows employers to voluntarily enrol eligible employees who were excluded from EPF coverage between July 1, 2017, and October 31, 2025.
The six-month window, starting November 2025, also enables establishments that were not previously covered under the EPF Act to apply for coverage.
Employers can declare and enrol employees without going through lengthy litigation or complex proceedings.
Relief for Past Defaults
Under EES-2025, employers who missed deducting employee contributions in the past will get significant relief.
They will only need to deposit the employer’s share of contributions along with interest, applicable administrative charges, and a capped penalty of Rs 100.
This payment is treated as full compliance across all three EPFO schemes.
The scheme also extends to establishments currently facing assessment inquiries.
Additionally, benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana can be availed, subject to its terms.
EPFO Urges Participation
EPFO has called this a time-bound opportunity and is encouraging employers to contribute to the national vision of “Social Security for All”.
To promote awareness, the organisation will reach out to defaulting employers via SMS and email.
A nationwide campaign has also been launched to educate employers about the benefits of the scheme.
EPFO is working with government authorities to ensure that contractual and casual workers are also enrolled under the EPF framework.
With EES-2025, employers now have a simpler and safer way to comply with EPF rules while securing social security benefits for their employees.
