EPFO Increases Auto Claim Limit by 5 Times (Who Can Use?)

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has increased the auto claim limit by five times, making it easier for members to withdraw PF in emergencies. Here’s the complete detail of this decision and how to use the auto claim step by step.

EPFO Auto Claim Update: On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that the EPFO has raised the auto-settlement limit for Provident Fund (PF) claims to ₹5 lakh. Earlier, this limit was ₹1 lakh.

This decision is expected to benefit EPFO members who need quick access to money during emergencies, as per a PTI report.

EPFO had first introduced the auto-claim facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. It allowed members to access funds quickly without delays.

Now, by increasing the limit five times, EPFO has given more flexibility to its members. It will be especially useful during medical emergencies.

Who Can Use Auto Claim Facility

To use EPFO’s auto claim service, your UAN (Universal Account Number) must be active.

Also, your KYC details like Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account must be updated and verified on the EPFO portal. The reason for withdrawal, like medical or natural disaster, must be valid for auto claim.

Step-by-Step Process:

  • Visit the official EPFO website and log in with your UAN and password.

  • Click on the “Online Services” tab and select “Claim (Form-31, 19, 10C & 10D)”.

  • Confirm your bank account and proceed with “Online Claim” using Form-31.

  • Select the reason, enter the amount, upload required documents (if any), and submit the claim.

You can track your claim status under the “Track Claim Status” section.

19.14 Lakh New Members Joined in April 2025

EPFO added 19.14 lakh new members on a net basis in April 2025. This is a rise of 31.31% compared to March 2025 and 1.17% more than April 2024.

The Labour Ministry credits this to more job opportunities, better awareness about EPF benefits, and EPFO’s promotional efforts.

The age group of 18 to 25 years contributed the most, with 4.89 lakh new members—making up 57.67% of the total new additions.

As per EPFO’s payroll report, Maharashtra was the top-performing state in net payroll addition in April 2025. Also, 15.77 lakh old members who had earlier exited EPFO rejoined during the month.
