Electricity Bill Hike: Haryana Residents Face Increased Electricity Bill Prices (See New Rates)

The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has released new electricity rates for 2025-26, and the cost of electricity has increased for both domestic and industrial consumers.

For domestic consumers, the price has been increased by 20 paise per kilowatt. In the zero to 50-unit slab, the rate has gone up from Rs 2 per unit to Rs 2.20.

Similarly, for the 51-100 unit slab, the rate has increased from Rs 2.50 to Rs 2.70 per unit.

Consumers using more than 100 units per month will now pay Rs 2.95 per kilowatt, up from Rs 2.75 in the 0-150 unit slab.

In the 2020-21 financial year, rates had been reduced, such as the 0-50 unit rate, which was cut from Rs 2.70 per unit to Rs 2.

However, the rates have now been set at Rs 2.20 and Rs 2.70 per unit under the new order.

Relief Measures and New Rate Structure

A significant change under the new tariff structure is the removal of the minimum monthly charge (MMC), providing immediate relief to people.

A two-tier system has been introduced, meaning no fixed charge will apply to domestic consumers who use up to 300 units per month. The new rates for various slabs are:

151-300 units: Rs 5.25 per unit

301-500 units: Rs 6.45 per unit

Above 500 units: Rs 7.10 per unit

Additionally, a new category has been created for consumers with loads greater than 5 kW. The rates for this category are as follows:

0-500 units: Rs 6.50 per unit

501-1,000 units: Rs 7.15 per unit

Above 1,000 units: Rs 7.50 per unit

There will also be a fixed charge of Rs 50 per kilowatt for consumers in the 301-500 and above 500-unit slabs.

For industrial consumers, the rate for 11 kVAh supply has increased from Rs 6.65 to Rs 6.95 per kVAh, and the fixed charge has risen from Rs 165 to Rs 290 per kVAh.

Relief for Farmers and Agro-Industries

To support farmers, the charges for agriculture category connections with meters have been reduced.

The minimum monthly charge per BHP has been lowered from Rs 200 to Rs 180/144 per year.

Additionally, a new category for agro-industries and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) has been introduced. This category, covering loads above 20 kW, will be charged at Rs 6.50 per unit.
