A passport is an official document that confirms a citizen’s identity and nationality.
It is essential for international travel, whether for business, leisure, or education.
Given its importance, ensuring a smooth renewal process is crucial for hassle-free travel.
An Indian passport is valid for 10 years from the date of issue and must be renewed afterward.
Renewal can be initiated one year before expiration or within three years after expiry.
Although renewal is allowed within six months of expiration, delays may occur, potentially affecting travel plans.
To avoid complications, it is recommended to start the process at least nine months in advance.
Minor passports are valid for five years or until the child turns eighteen, whichever comes first.
After reaching the age of 15, minors have the option to apply for a full-validity passport with a 10-year validity or renew their passport online.
