e-Aadhaar: Soon You Can update Your Aadhaar from Home

Updating your Aadhaar card used to be a time-consuming process. Changing details like your address, date of birth, or mobile number often meant several visits to a service center.

Now, these problems are set to end. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is preparing to launch a new all-in-one mobile app called e-Aadhaar.

This app will be available for both Android and iOS users and is expected to be released by the end of 2025.

Easy Aadhaar Updates in Just a Few Clicks

With the e-Aadhaar app, users will be able to update their Aadhaar details — such as address, date of birth, and mobile number — from home.

The app’s biggest advantage is that you won’t need to visit enrollment or service centers anymore.

It will use smart facial recognition and AI-based technology to make the process secure and to reduce the chances of identity theft or fraud.

One Platform for All Government Data

The app will automatically fetch your Aadhaar information from official government documents like your birth certificate, PAN card, passport, driving license, and ration card.

This means you won’t have to upload multiple documents again and again.
It will act as a digital government data platform, helping citizens avoid unnecessary paperwork.

Safe, Secure, and Easy to Use

The e-Aadhaar app will come with features like QR code verification and a digital Aadhaar card to keep your identity secure.

According to UIDAI, demographic updates such as address, phone number, and date of birth will be free of cost, while biometric updates will require a small fee.

However, biometric updates will remain free for children and teenagers.

Expected Launch by End of 2025

The e-Aadhaar app has been making headlines since August 2025, and it is now expected to go live by the end of this year.

With this launch, the government aims to make digital services faster, safer, and completely paperless.

Once available, it will be much easier and quicker for citizens to access and update their Aadhaar-related services anytime, anywhere.
