Traffic authorities are tightening enforcement of road rules, and challans and fines play an important role in this process. However, many people do not pay their traffic fines on time.
To address this issue, Pune Traffic Police Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil has issued a strict warning to vehicle owners with unpaid challans. He has asked them to clear their dues within one month of receiving the notice.
If they fail to pay within this period, strict legal action will be taken. This may include suspension of their driving licence or even court proceedings. The main aim of this move is to strengthen rule enforcement and improve compliance with traffic laws.
Recovery Drive for Pending E-Challans
According to the traffic department, a large number of drivers in the city still have unpaid e-challans. To recover these dues, the department has started a special recovery drive.
Vehicle owners with pending challans will receive a notice asking them to pay the amount within 30 days. I
f payment is not made within this time, the traffic police will send a proposal to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Pune, to suspend the driving licence of the vehicle owner. Legal action in court may also be taken if required.
Manoj Patil explained that many vehicle owners repeatedly break traffic rules but do not pay their penalties. This weakens enforcement and negatively affects road safety.
Therefore, strict notices have been issued to habitual offenders. He also appealed to the public to cooperate and pay their pending dues promptly, stating that the department is taking recovery very seriously this time.
Enforcement Notices and How to Pay Challans
The traffic police said that notices will be sent to vehicle owners’ registered mobile numbers via SMS from the official sender ID MHPECH-G. Habitual defaulters will receive these messages between February 26 and March 1.
Since spam and online fraud are common today, officials warned people to treat any message received outside this period or from any other sender ID as suspicious.
