This Diwali, you can now protect your family from firecracker-related accidents for as little as ₹5.
Fintech firm CoverSure has launched a special firecracker insurance policy that covers accidents during the festive season.
The policy is valid for 10 days and can be purchased directly from the CoverSure platform. Earlier, PhonePe had also launched a similar policy for ₹11.
Under the CoverSure plan, policyholders will get coverage of up to ₹50,000 for accidental death and ₹10,000 for burn injuries.
The company said the aim is to promote safety during Diwali while making insurance affordable and accessible to every household.
Saurabh Vijayvargiya, Founder and CEO of CoverSure, said, “Diwali is a festival of happiness, but it also carries the risk of accidents from fire or fireworks.
This ₹5 policy offers families a simple yet effective safety net. We want insurance to become a regular part of people’s lives.”
According to the Delhi Fire Service, fire and emergency calls rose by 53% during Diwali 2024, while cities like Bengaluru and Chandigarh also reported a rise in burn and eye injury cases.
Before this, PhonePe had launched its Short-Term Firecracker Insurance Plan, priced at ₹11 including GST, which received an excellent response.
The plan provides coverage up to ₹25,000 for 11 days and protects against accidents caused by firecrackers.
This insurance covers:
Hospitalization expenses (if admitted for more than 24 hours)
Day-care treatment (less than 24 hours)
Accidental death caused by firecracker incidents
One policy covers the policyholder, spouse, and two children. Both policies can be easily purchased through the respective websites or mobile apps.
