Disney+ Hotstar Subscription Gets a Price Hike with New Plan

As the COVID-19 pandemic has led people to rely on OTT platforms for entertainment, OTT companies are now revising their pricing plans.

Disney+ Hotstar, in particular, had announced its plans to introduce new pricing structures, which came into effect on September 1st.

The starting price of Disney+ Hotstar’s plan, previously at Rs 399, has now been increased to Rs 499. However, customers will now enjoy extended validity in all Disney+ Hotstar plans.

New Pricing Details:
The Disney+ Hotstar Mobile plan will now begin at Rs 499 for an annual subscription, up from the previous Rs 399.

Alongside this, two new plans have been introduced: Disney+ Hotstar Super at an annual fee of Rs 899 and Disney+ Hotstar Premium at Rs 1,499 per year.

These changes took effect from September 1st. Notably, the Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription has been discontinued.

Understanding the Plans:

  • Disney+ Hotstar Mobile: This plan is similar to Netflix’s mobile plan, allowing access on one mobile device while offering HD video quality.
  • Disney+ Hotstar Super: Subscribers to this plan can enjoy content in HD quality on two devices simultaneously.
  • Disney+ Hotstar Premium: This top-tier subscription provides access to content in 4K quality and allows concurrent streaming on four devices.

Content Access:
All Disney+ Hotstar plans grant access to a wide range of content, including Disney+ Originals, Hollywood movies, and TV shows from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, HBO, FX, Showtime, 20th Century, and Searchlight Pictures.

Previously, access to some of this content was exclusive to Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscribers but is now available across all plans.

With the new pricing structure and expanded content access, Disney+ Hotstar aims to provide a more inclusive and compelling entertainment experience to its subscribers, catering to a wider range of preferences and budgets.
