Direct Flights Make Visiting Somnath Easier for Devotees

It is now easier for people to visit the Somnath Jyotirlinga temple, as devotees no longer need to rely solely on rail or road travel.

A new flight service has started to Somnath, available from Keshod Airport in Junagadh district, the closest airport to the temple.

Located near Junagadh, Somnath Jyotirlinga is part of the Gir Somnath district in Gujarat.

Devotees visiting the Somnath temple can now use a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Keshod.

Additionally, the ‘Shri Somnath Trust,’ which oversees the temple, has launched a free pick-up bus service.

This service will transport devotees from Keshod Airport to the temple, making their journey even more convenient.

Flight Schedule and Benefits for Devotees

The Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board, under the Gujarat government, has announced that flights between Ahmedabad

and Keshod will operate three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The flight departs Ahmedabad at 10:10 am and arrives at Keshod at 10:55 am, returning to Ahmedabad at 1:15 pm and reaching by 2:30 pm.

This schedule is ideal for devotees who wish to make a quick trip to Somnath and return the same day.

PM Modi’s Role in Enhancing Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the chairman of the ‘Shri Somnath Trust,’ led the initiative to improve access to the temple.

In a recent trust meeting chaired by him, this new flight service was approved.

Keshod Airport, approximately 55 kilometers from Somnath temple in Prabhas Patan city, is now a convenient entry point for visitors.

This air service benefits both Gujarat residents and visitors from other parts of India.

Travelers can now easily reach Ahmedabad and take a direct flight to Somnath, saving significant travel time.

Located on the Arabian Sea coast, Somnath temple is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas in India, attracting devotees from across the country.
