Pollution levels in Delhi have once again reached extremely dangerous levels. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is at record highs, making it difficult even to breathe in open areas.
Due to this serious situation, the Delhi government has implemented GRAP-4, the strictest stage of the Graded Response Action Plan.
Under GRAP-4, all construction and demolition activities have been stopped. While this step is necessary to control pollution, it has badly affected the livelihoods of thousands of daily wage workers who depend on construction work.
Financial Help for Construction Workers
To support affected workers, the Delhi government has announced financial assistance of ₹10,000. However, this benefit will not be given to everyone.
Only verified construction workers—those whose records are already available with the government and whose verification is complete—will be eligible.
According to Delhi minister Kapil Mishra, around 10,000 workers in Delhi currently fall under the verified category. The amount of ₹10,000 will be directly transferred to their bank accounts.
This payment is meant as compensation for 16 days, the period during which construction work has been halted under GRAP-4. Workers who are not yet verified will not receive this assistance at present.
Online Registration Process
The Delhi government has also started an online registration process for construction workers. Workers can register by visiting the official portal:
https://dbocwwb.delhi.gov.in/
During registration, workers must provide their identity documents, work-related details, and bank account information. After submission, the government will verify the details.
Workers who successfully complete the verification process will receive ₹10,000 directly in their bank accounts. The government has stated that the entire process is digital to ensure quick and smooth delivery of financial aid.
Workers are advised to register as early as possible to avoid delays and receive timely support during this difficult period.
