There is important news for people dealing with vehicle-related work in Delhi. The Transport Department has decided to reopen multiple RTO (Regional Transport Office) centers that were shut during the COVID-19 period.

These offices were earlier closed to promote online services. But now, the government is bringing them back to make things easier for the public.

Under the new plan, every district in Delhi will have its own RTO office.

RTO Services Will Be Available Closer to Home

As part of this restructuring, a total of 13 RTO offices will be reopened across Delhi. At present, only four RTOs are fully functional.

Once all offices start working, people will not have to travel long distances anymore. Most services will be available within their own district, saving both time and effort.

Online Services Continue, But Physical Help Returns

Over the past few years, nearly 90% of RTO services have gone online. This includes:

Learning driving license

Driving license renewal

Duplicate license

Vehicle ownership transfer

However, some work still requires physical verification or document submission. That’s why reopening RTO offices has become necessary to improve convenience for citizens.

DL-13 Series Makes a Comeback

Another major change is in vehicle registration numbers. The DL-13 series, which was discontinued earlier, will now return.

At the same time, the DL-14 series has been removed. Officials believe this step will make the registration system more organized and easier to manage.

New RTO Locations Across Delhi

The new RTO offices will be set up in several key areas, including:

Mall Road

Jam Nagar House

Lado Sarai

Hari Nagar

Loni

Sarai Kale Khan

Mayur Vihar

Wazirpur

Dwarka

Raja Garden

Rohini

Burari

These locations are spread across districts so that residents can easily access services nearby.

When Will the New RTOs Start?

Preparations are already underway to make all 13 RTOs operational. This includes setting up infrastructure, hiring staff, and completing technical work.

The official timeline for launch will be announced soon. Once ready, the new system is expected to make RTO services faster, simpler, and more accessible for everyone.
