Delhi Metro to Start early for MCD Bye-Elections

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced special early morning services for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bye-elections.

The move aims to help polling staff reach their assigned locations on time across 12 wards.

DMRC shared the update on X, highlighting extended operational hours and additional arrangements for polling day on November 30 and counting day on December 3.

Early Morning Services on Polling Day

On Sunday, November 30, metro services will start at 4:00 AM, running every 30 minutes until 6:00 AM.

After 6:00 AM, the regular Sunday schedule will resume.

To support polling personnel returning from duties, DMRC has also extended the last train timing from 11:00 PM to 11:30 PM.

These adjustments are specifically designed to ensure smooth and timely movement of polling staff during the elections.

Counting Day Services

The same early schedule will be followed on Wednesday, December 3, the day votes are counted.

Trains will start at 4:00 AM and run at 30-minute intervals until 6:00 AM, after which the normal weekday schedule will take over.

Additional Election Preparations

Ahead of the bye-elections, the State Election Commissioner (SEC), Vijay Dev, announced a 48-hour silence period from 5:30 PM on November 28 to 5:30 PM on November 30.

During this period, publication or broadcast of election-related content, including opinion and exit polls, is prohibited.

A total of 132 candidates have filed nominations for the 12 wards, including 59 male and 74 female candidates.

Women candidates are contesting from areas such as Shalimar Bagh-B, Greater Kailash, Dwarka-B, Ashok Vihar, and Dichaon Kalan.

Polling is scheduled for November 30, with counting set for December 3.
