Great news for Delhi residents! You no longer have to wait in long queues to buy metro tickets.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has teamed up with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to allow passengers to book metro tickets through more than 10 popular mobile apps.
This means you won’t need to download a separate app for the metro. Here’s everything you need to know:
How Will It Work?
Thanks to this new partnership, passengers can now buy Delhi Metro tickets easily through apps they already use.
You won’t need to navigate different platforms or download a new app just for metro tickets.
This system aims to make travel more convenient, especially since DMRC serves around 6.5 million passengers daily.
Where Can You Buy Delhi Metro Tickets?
You can now buy metro tickets using these popular apps:
Chartr
EaseMyTrip
Google Maps
Highway Delite
Miles & Kilometres
NammaYatri
OneTicket
Rapido
RedBus
Tummoc
Yatri Railways
How Does This Integration Work?
This new system is powered by a single-point tech interface developed by SequelString AI (SAI), making it easy to integrate metro ticketing across various platforms.
Now, passengers can use apps for other services, such as ride-hailing or travel planning, and buy metro tickets directly through the same app.
What’s the Benefit?
Real-time convenience: You can book metro tickets on the go.
No need for multiple apps: Whether you’re booking a bus ticket or hailing a ride, you can now buy your metro ticket at the same time.
Easy travel: For example, if you’re traveling from Jaipur to Delhi, you can now book both your bus ticket via RedBus and your metro ticket to your destination in Delhi.
Similarly, you can now book your metro ticket through apps like Rapido while booking your ride within the city.
Future Plans for DMRC
DMRC is also working on Phase-5 of the metro project, aiming to expand the metro network in Delhi-NCR.
A proposal for 18 new metro corridors covering 206.5 km has been submitted to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. So, expect even more metro connectivity in the future!
