The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has increased metro fares after eight years. The new fares came into effect from 25 August 2025.
On all metro lines, fares have increased by ₹1 to ₹4.
On the Airport Express Line, fares have gone up by ₹1 to ₹5.
After the revision, the minimum fare is ₹11 and the maximum is ₹64.
DMRC has said that the hike is small and will not burden passengers much.
The last fare change happened in 2017, when fares were fixed on the recommendation of the Fourth Fare Fixation Committee (FFC). At that time, the minimum fare was ₹10 and the maximum was ₹60.
Discounts for Smart Card Users
Even after the fare hike, smart card users will continue to receive:
10% discount on every journey.
An extra 10% discount during off-peak hours (before 8 am, 12 noon to 5 pm, and after 9 pm).
Delhi Metro: Lifeline of the Capital
The Delhi Metro is India’s largest metro network, covering 394 km with 12 corridors and 289 stations, including the Noida Aqua Line and Gurugram Rapid Metro.
Known as the lifeline of Delhi, it carries millions of passengers every day.
DMRC says the revised fares will help balance operating and maintenance costs, while ensuring the same level of facilities for commuters.
