Delhi Launches ₹10 Lakh Health Scheme for Seniors

From April 28, 2025, Delhi’s senior citizens aged 70 years or above will now get free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana.

The scheme was launched at a grand event in Thyagaraj Stadium, Delhi.

What’s Covered in the Scheme?

₹5 lakh coverage under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)

An additional ₹5 lakh coverage from the Delhi government

Total: ₹10 lakh cashless treatment

Launch Details

The scheme was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri

The first Ayushman Vay Vandana card was distributed to beneficiaries at the event

Where Will Treatment Be Available?

Treatment will be cashless

Available at government and private hospitals listed under the scheme

No income limit – applies to all elderly people aged 70+, rich or poor

Aadhar card or any valid ID can be used if the Ayushman card is not available

Who Benefits?

Approximately 33 lakh people in Delhi

Includes people above and even below 70 years who meet certain criteria

Elderly citizens from all communities and income levels

Statements from Leaders

CM Rekha Gupta criticized the previous government for delaying the scheme and said, “Now Delhi will function on its own rights.”

Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar said, “This scheme fulfills Modi Ji’s dream of securing the health of our elders.”
