The Delhi government is set to launch Delhi EV Policy 2.0, which will replace the earlier EV policy.
The goal of this new policy is to electrify 95% of vehicles by 2027 and create 20,000 new jobs in the electric mobility sector.
A key highlight of the draft policy is a subsidy of up to ₹36,000 for women purchasing electric two-wheelers.
Special Benefits for Women Buyers
According to PTI, the draft of Delhi EV Policy 2.0 proposes that the first 10,000 women buyers with a valid driving license will receive this benefit. The objective is to boost women’s participation in the EV sector.
The draft suggests that women buyers in Delhi will get a purchase incentive of ₹12,000 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), up to a maximum of ₹36,000.
This proposal is currently under review and is likely to be approved soon.
The new policy is designed to work alongside the PM E-Drive Scheme of the central government, which aims to speed up electric vehicle adoption in Delhi.
Once implemented, the policy will remain valid until March 31, 2030.
Incentives for Electric Two-Wheelers
For general buyers, the draft policy offers an incentive of ₹10,000 per kWh, with a maximum limit of ₹30,000 per electric two-wheeler.
Additionally, if a petrol two-wheeler (not older than 12 years) is scrapped, buyers can receive an extra ₹10,000 as a scrapping bonus.
Benefits for Electric Auto-Rickshaws (L5M Category)
Delhi EV Policy 2.0 also includes benefits for electric auto-rickshaws:
₹10,000 per kWh subsidy, up to ₹45,000 per vehicle
Scrapping bonus of ₹20,000 for ICE-based autos less than 12 years old
For CNG autos completing 10 years of registration during the policy period, replacement with an electric auto will be mandatory
A ₹1 lakh replacement incentive will be offered in these cases, but no additional subsidies will apply afterward
Delhi EV Policy 2.0 is focused not just on reducing pollution but also on creating employment, especially for women, and accelerating the shift to sustainable mobility.
