In Madhya Pradesh, daughters will now have the right to their parents’ pension. These changes will apply statewide from April 1, 2026.

The state government is making major amendments to pension rules for the first time. The proposal has been drafted and is currently awaiting cabinet approval.

Under the proposed rules, even if there is a son in the family, if the daughter is older, she alone will be eligible for the family pension.

Lifelong pensions will continue for unmarried daughters, widows, and divorced daughters.

Additionally, disabled sons, daughters, or brothers who are completely unable to earn a living will also be eligible for a pension.

Pension Eligibility for Minor Children

A retired employee receives a lifelong pension, which is 50% of their last salary under the Old Pension Scheme. Under other systems:

NPS provides an annuity-based pension.

UPS provides a fixed pension.

The family pension is available to the employee’s wife after the employee’s death. Minor children are eligible for family pension after the death of both parents.
