If traffic rule violators do not pay their e-challan within 90 days, they will have to appear in court.
The unpaid challan will be sent to the court virtually, and after that, the vehicle owner will be required to go to court to pay the challan.
CG Traffic Rules: Increase in Rule Violations
There has been a rise in the number of people breaking traffic rules. To address this, the state police are preparing to implement a new system.
This step is being taken because many people are not paying their e-challans.
The aim is to take strict action against those who ignore the challans or those who are hard to reach with current methods.
Currently, e-challans are sent to the violator’s home address. However, many people have not updated their address or mobile number, so they do not receive the challan. As a result, the number of traffic rule violators is going up.
Updates in HSRC
A dual system is being planned by the virtual court to handle cases where the e-challan is not paid. Under this system, the e-challan will be sent through the court.
After receiving it, the person must pay it online right away. If they do not pay, they will have to go to court.
Transport Department’s Steps
To fix the current issues, the Transport Department is running a campaign to install High Security Registration Plates (HSRP).
Along with this, names, addresses, and mobile numbers of vehicle owners will be updated.
If the rules are broken, the e-challan will be sent directly as a message to the mobile number. The challan can then be paid online from home.
New System to Be Implemented
Sanjay Sharma, AIG Traffic, said that those who do not pay their e-challans will have to appear in court.
To implement this new system, a campaign is ongoing to install HSRPs in vehicles made before April 1, 2019.
The Transport Department is updating vehicle owners’ details during this process.
Camps for HSRP installation are being organized at all district RTOs, local streets, colonies, government offices, and district courts.
The department has also set up toll-free numbers 911206457502 and 911206457503, and an email ID: customer.support@hsrpcg.com for assistance.
If a vehicle is found without the new number plate during checking, a fine between Rs 500 and Rs 10,000 will be issued.
