and Indore. In Kanpur (UP), the temperature was 9.2°C, causing severe cold.

In Srinagar, temperatures have dipped below zero for the first time this season due to snowfall in the mountains.

Similarly, several districts in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are recording sub-zero temperatures.

Air Quality and Weather in Delhi-NCR

Air quality in Delhi-NCR has worsened to the “very poor” category as the cold intensifies.

The IMD recorded a minimum temperature of 12.7°C, which is 1.6°C below normal, and the maximum is expected to be around 26°C.

Minimum temperatures in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad have dropped sharply in the past 48 hours

and are likely to remain between 13°C and 14°C throughout the week. Light fog is expected, reducing visibility in many areas.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an AQI of 311 in Delhi.

Out of 38 monitoring stations, 26 recorded very poor air quality. Bawana had an AQI of 366, and Jahangirpuri recorded 348.

Weather in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

In western Uttar Pradesh, icy winds from the mountains have made the weather much colder.

The IMD predicts a 4–5°C drop in minimum temperature on November 8 and 9. Except for eastern UP, most areas will see clear skies.

In Bihar, the weather has also changed. Clear skies have brought sunny days and chilly nights.

Temperatures may drop by 3–4°C in the next two days, increasing the winter chill. Morning fog layers will also be visible.

With rainfall now stopped, farmers can resume Rabi crop sowing.

Snowfall in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

In Uttarakhand, the IMD predicts snowfall in hilly areas and fog in the plains. The weather will stay dry till November 12, but cold wave conditions will prevail.

Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Hemkund Sahib have already seen snowfall, pushing temperatures below zero.

In Himachal Pradesh, snowfall in Tabo, Lahaul, Spiti, and nearby areas has made the weather very cold.

High-altitude regions are recording sub-zero temperatures, and tourists have started arriving to enjoy the snow.

Fresh Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir

Due to snowfall in valleys and higher regions, a cold wave has gripped Jammu and Kashmir. The famous hill station Gulmarg is covered in fresh snow, while Sonamarg

and other tourist places are also witnessing snowfall and rain in the plains.

The IMD predicts minimum temperatures around 5°C or below, and the cold will intensify further early next week.

Weather in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

In Rajasthan, temperatures have dropped by about 10°C in the last two days, especially in border districts.

Fatehpur (Sikar) recorded 7.5°C, making it one of the coldest areas. The IMD said strong weekend winds will deepen the cold wave.

In Madhya Pradesh, temperatures have dropped sharply in the past 2–3 days. Fog is visible, especially in rural areas.

Night temperatures are around 6°C, and in most districts, the minimum is 18°C or below.

Thunderstorms and Rain in Tamil Nadu and Kerala

The northeast monsoon continues to bring rain and thunderstorms to South India.

The IMD said that over the next 24 hours, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, and nearby regions may face severe weather.

Kerala is on alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms until November 10.

Due to a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema will experience similar conditions.

In Tamil Nadu, heavy rain has been continuing for two days. The Meteorological Center has issued alerts for Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Vellore, Salem, Madurai,

and several other districts on November 8, warning of strong winds and lightning.

Why It’s Raining in South India This November

Rain continues in South India this November, causing losses to farmers due to unseasonal rainfall.

Earlier, the monsoon and Cyclone Montha had caused intense weather activity, which has now subsided.

However, the northeast monsoon has become active again, though it’s gradually weakening.

Light storms and thunderstorms are likely in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and coastal Andhra Pradesh over the next two days.

A cyclonic circulation may soon develop over the southeast Arabian Sea near Kerala, which will increase cold conditions in southern states.
