New Delhi: The New Year brings good news for gas users as CNG and PNG prices have come down. Last year, in 2025, the Petroleum

and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) changed the unified tariff system for gas transportation. This change has directly affected CNG and PNG prices across the country.

How Much Have Prices Changed?

The new prices came into effect from 6 am on January 1, 2026. According to the latest information:

CNG price has decreased by approximately ₹3 per kg, although the exact price may vary by city.

PNG price has been reduced by around ₹0.70 per unit.

This price drop will benefit people who use CNG vehicles daily and those who use PNG for cooking.

Changes in the Unified Tariff System

Earlier, natural gas transportation had three different tariffs, and charges increased with distance. This system affected the final prices of CNG and PNG.

Now, the PNGRB has simplified it into two zones:

Up to 300 meters

Over 300 meters

This change in the tariff system has contributed to the reduction in gas prices.
