The changing relationship between India and China is beginning to show positive results. One major update is good news for people traveling from India to China.
After a long break, China has decided to reinstate the online visa application facility for Indian citizens.
Official Announcement by the Chinese Ambassador
China’s Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, announced this update on the social media platform Xu. He confirmed that China’s online visa application system for Indians will restart on December 22, 2025.
With this change, Indian travelers will no longer have to visit the embassy or a visa center. Instead, they can complete the entire visa process from their homes.
How to Apply Online
Indian citizens who wish to travel to China can apply through the official Chinese visa website: visaforchina.cn/DEL3_EN/qianzh.
This website also provides other important visa-related information for travelers.
India’s Step Toward Normalization
India has already resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese citizens, a service that had been suspended since the border tensions in 2020. China’s latest decision on visas shows that both countries are gradually moving toward restoring normal relations.
Improved India–China Relations
The improvement in ties between India and China is the result of several high-level discussions. In October 2024, both countries agreed to disengage forward troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Later, a key meeting took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia.
Following this, India and China reactivated bilateral mechanisms and created a roadmap to resolve all remaining issues, including the long-standing border dispute.
