OpenAI has announced that its ChatGPT Go plan is now free in India, starting November 4th.
The company said that all users who sign up during this limited-time promotional period will get one year of free access to the plan.
Normally priced at ₹399 per month, the plan provides several premium features — including higher message limits, image generation, and file upload options.
This special offer lets users enjoy these benefits without paying any subscription fee for the first year.
How to Activate the Free Plan
To activate the free ChatGPT Go plan:
Open the ChatGPT app or website on your phone.
Sign in to your account.
Tap on your profile icon and select “Upgrade Your Plan” or go to Settings → Subscriptions.
Choose ChatGPT Go and follow the on-screen instructions.
After completing these steps, the plan will be added to your account automatically.
Users who are already subscribed and paying for the plan will also receive one year of free access under this promotional offer.
Why OpenAI Made It Free
India is now OpenAI’s second-largest market. The company revealed that the number of paid subscribers doubled within a month of launching the affordable ChatGPT Go plan in August.
To celebrate its first OpenAI DevDay Exchange event in India, the company decided to make the plan free.
Another reason is growing competition — rival companies like Perplexity and Google are also offering free AI chatbot services.
To stay ahead, OpenAI has joined this race by offering ChatGPT Go at no cost for a year.
