ChatGPT Go launched in India at Rs399

OpenAI, the company led by Sam Altman, has launched a special edition called ChatGPT Go in India.

The plan is priced at just ₹399 per month. The best part is that Indian users can now pay through UPI — something that was not available earlier for ChatGPT paid plans.

This plan is designed to give Indian users more features such as higher usage limits, image generation, file uploads, and extended memory at an affordable price.

What is ChatGPT Go?

On Tuesday, ChatGPT head Nick Turley announced the launch of ChatGPT Go exclusively for India.

He mentioned that Indian users had been demanding affordable pricing and local payment options,

and this plan fulfills both. After India, the plan will later be introduced in other countries.

With ChatGPT Go, users get:

10x more messages compared to the free plan

10x more image generation

10x more file uploads

Double the storage

This plan is especially useful for students, freelancers, and professionals who find the free plan too limited but don’t need the full features of the Plus or Pro plans.

Another important update is that subscription prices are now shown directly in Indian Rupees (INR). This removes the confusion of currency conversion.

Plus, for the first time, UPI payment options (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, etc.) are available, making it easier for people to upgrade.

Subscription Options Available

Currently, ChatGPT offers four subscription tiers:

Free plan

Go plan – ₹399/month

Plus plan – ₹1,999/month

Pro plan – ₹19,999/month

Why is ChatGPT Go Special?

The free version of ChatGPT has several limits on messages, images, and file uploads.

With ChatGPT Go, these limits increase up to 10 times, making it a much more practical option for everyday users.

The plan is targeted at those who want more freedom than the free version but do not require all the premium features of the Plus plan.

It’s affordable and powerful enough for tasks like writing documents, generating images, analyzing files, and creative projects.

First Launch in India

Launching ChatGPT Go first in India highlights OpenAI’s focus on markets where people want advanced technology at affordable prices.

The goal is to make generative AI tools more accessible, not just for big companies or premium users, but also for students, creators, and professionals.

For everyday users, this means fewer restrictions, smoother work, and more creative freedom without spending a lot.
