This new plan is designed to offer advanced features like higher usage limits, image generation, file uploads, and extended memory at a lower cost for Indian users.

What is ChatGPT Go?

On Tuesday, OpenAI launched the affordable ChatGPT Go plan specially for India.

This announcement was made by ChatGPT head Nick Turley, who said that the plan addresses two major demands of Indian users — lower pricing and local payment options.

He also mentioned that the plan will be rolled out to other countries after India.

With ChatGPT Go, users get 10x more messages, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and double the storage compared to the free version.

This makes it ideal for students, freelancers, and professionals who need more than what the free plan offers but don’t require everything included in the Plus or Pro plans.

Local Currency & UPI Payments

OpenAI has also made a big change in how subscription prices are shown — they are now displayed directly in Indian Rupees (INR), removing the confusion of currency conversion.

For the first time, UPI is accepted as a payment method in India, which is the most widely used digital payment system in the country. This move makes it much easier and more convenient for Indian users to upgrade to a paid plan.

Four Subscription Options Available

OpenAI now offers four subscription tiers for Indian users:

  • Free Plan – ₹0

  • Go Plan – ₹399/month

  • Plus Plan – ₹1,999/month

  • Pro Plan – ₹19,999/month

Why ChatGPT Go Is Special

Compared to the free version, ChatGPT Go gives users:

  • 10 times more questions/messages

  • 10 times more image generations

  • 10 times more file uploads

  • Double the memory/storage

The free version has strict limits, especially on uploads and image generation. ChatGPT Go removes many of these limitations at a price that remains affordable.

This plan is ideal for people who want more freedom than the free version offers but don’t need the full power of the Plus plan.

First Launch in India

Launching ChatGPT Go first in India shows that OpenAI is focusing on countries where people are eager to use advanced technology at a low cost.

The plan offers flexibility and affordability, making AI more accessible not just to big companies or premium users but also to students, creators, and everyday users.

With ChatGPT Go, users can expect fewer restrictions, easier tasks, and more creative possibilities — whether it’s writing documents, creating images, or analyzing files. It’s designed to meet daily needs without spending too much.

Subscribe Using These Apps

OpenAI now allows Indian users to subscribe to ChatGPT Go using UPI-based apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm.

Earlier, payments could only be made in dollars, but now pricing is clearly shown in rupees, making the subscription process much simpler for Indian users.
