OpenAI has introduced a new feature for ChatGPT users called Scheduled Tasks. With this update, ChatGPT is becoming more than just a chatbot.
It can now help users automate tasks, set reminders, and receive updates without having to ask every time.
The new feature is designed to make ChatGPT act more like a personal assistant that can work on its own based on schedules and conditions set by the user.
What Is the Scheduled Tasks Feature?
Scheduled Tasks is a new section where users can create and manage automated tasks. Instead of waiting for instructions, ChatGPT can perform specific actions automatically at the right time.
For example, users can set reminders for meetings, receive daily report summaries, or get alerts when there are important updates on a topic they are tracking.
This makes it easier to manage routine tasks without repeatedly entering the same prompts.
ChatGPT Can Now Send Smart Reminders
One of the biggest highlights of this update is automatic reminders. Users only need to set a task once, and ChatGPT will handle the rest.
The feature can also automate repetitive prompts. This means ChatGPT can perform recurring tasks on a schedule, saving users time and effort.
As a result, users no longer need to remember to ask for the same information every day or week.
Three Types of Tasks Available
OpenAI is offering three different task options through Scheduled Tasks:
One-Time Tasks: Run once at a specific date and time.
Recurring Tasks: Repeat automatically on a daily, weekly, or regular schedule.
Monitoring Tasks: Track a topic and send alerts only when important changes or updates occur.
These options can be especially useful for people who rely on regular reminders, reports, and notifications.
Dedicated Control Center for Users
OpenAI is also rolling out a dedicated Scheduled Tasks page in ChatGPT. This section will appear in the main sidebar and will be available on both the web and mobile apps.
The page will act as a control center where users can view all active automations, check task status, and see upcoming run times.
Users will also be able to edit, pause, restart, or delete tasks whenever needed, giving them full control over their automated workflows.
