CGHS Old Website Closed – Use New Portal for Payments

CGHS Update: The old website of CGHS has been shut down. CGHS, a key health scheme under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has launched a new Health Management Information System (HMIS) to improve its services.

This new digital platform came into effect on 28 April 2025, replacing the old CGHS software completely.

Why Was the New HMIS Introduced?

As per the Health Ministry, the previous CGHS software was in use since 2005. It no longer met modern standards for IT systems, cybersecurity, and user experience.

The new HMIS aims to provide faster services and a smoother digital experience.

Features of the New HMIS

1. PAN-Based Identification
Every CGHS beneficiary will now be identified using their PAN card number. This will help remove duplicate entries and make eligibility checks easier. All users must link their PAN to their CGHS ID.

2. New Online Payment Method
Payments will no longer be accepted through Bharat Kosh. All CGHS payments must now be made through the new website: www.cghs.mohfw.gov.in. This change will reduce errors and refund issues.

3. Apply First, Pay Later
Applications for CGHS cards will now be reviewed first. Payment will only be allowed once the application is verified. This will help avoid cancellations and save time.

4. Online Card Updates
Tasks such as card transfers, adding or removing dependents, and changing pension categories can now be done fully online.

5. SMS and Email Notifications
You will now receive SMS and email alerts for every step in the process. This will keep you informed in real time and reduce the need for follow-ups.

6. Password Reset Needed
All users must reset their password the first time they log in. This step is necessary to keep your data secure.

7. Department Verification with DDO/PAO
Your department will now be verified using the Drawing & Disbursing Officer (DDO) and Pay & Accounts Office (PAO) codes found in your pay slip.

8. New CGHS Mobile App
The new CGHS mobile app is available for both Android and iOS. It includes features like:

Digital CGHS Card

Live tracking of your application

E-referral and appointment booking

Direct contact with CGHS helpdesk and AD office

Important Points to Remember

Applications that were not paid by 27 April 2025 have been cancelled. Affected users will need to reapply using the new portal.

All beneficiaries who are 18 years or older must link their PAN card with their CGHS ID.

CGHS cards that have already been issued will remain valid and continue to work as before.
