The Central government has approved a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for eligible Defence civilian employees of the Corps of EME for the accounting year 2024–25.
The decision was announced through an official order issued by the Ministry of Defence on January 7, 2026.
This bonus has been sanctioned by the President and is based on the performance of the Corps of EME during the year, calculated under the existing PLB formula.
How Much Bonus Will Employees Get?
As per the order, eligible employees will receive a bonus equal to 22 days’ wages.
The calculation will continue to follow the existing ceiling of Rs 7,000, and all other rules under the PLB scheme will remain unchanged.
The bonus reflects the working results achieved by the Corps of EME during the 2024–25 accounting year.
Who Is Eligible for the PLB?
The PLB will be paid to Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C civilian employees working under the EME Directorate, provided they are covered under the PLB scheme.
Only employees who fall under the existing eligibility rules of the scheme will receive the bonus.
How Will the Bonus Be Paid?
The expenditure for the bonus will be met from the Defence Service Estimates under the approved budget for FY 2025–26.
The government has clarified that this will not create any additional financial burden.
The order has been issued after approval from both the Ministry of Finance and Defence Finance authorities.
Why PLB Is Often Announced Around Festivals
Productivity-linked bonuses are usually announced around Diwali, especially for Group C and non-gazetted Group B government employees.
The aim is to provide financial support and reward employees for their annual performance.
In previous years, departments like the Department of Posts have announced PLBs before Diwali for a wide range of employees, including MTS, GDS, and even certain retired or deputed staff.
Although the latest Defence PLB announcement came after the festive season, it follows the same policy of recognizing employee contribution.
For civilian staff of the Corps of EME, the 22-day PLB for 2024–25 now officially confirms this reward, with payments to be made from the current financial year’s budget.
