The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has introduced new rules under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
Now, government employees and pensioners will receive faster approval for essential medical devices such as CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen concentrators.
This change will eliminate the need for patients to rent costly devices. Previously, it took a long time to receive these devices, leading patients to rent them, which wasn’t reimbursed under CGHS.
With this update, CGHS cardholders will benefit from quicker access to these essential devices.
You can now apply for expensive devices online
Previously, pensioners had to apply offline, which could take 15 to 45 days or longer for approval.
With the new system, the entire process is now online, making it faster and more transparent.
You can apply via email
Under the new guidelines, CGHS beneficiaries can now scan their application and send it through email.
Along with the application, necessary documents and an affidavit must be submitted, which will help speed up the approval process.
If a CGHS health center lacks a high-speed scanner, documents can still be sent.
The government has instructed all CGHS wellness centers to install high-speed scanners, ensuring faster approvals and preventing delays.
Tracking will be easier with e-filing
All approval records will now be stored in a separate Excel sheet at the Additional Director of CGHS.
This will include details such as the e-file number, beneficiary’s name, ID, device name, and approval status. Beneficiaries will be able to track their application status online easily.
You will be notified via email about approval or rejection
After the committee of respiratory medicine experts reviews the application, the beneficiary will receive an email with the approval or rejection decision.
If approved, an official letter will be issued, allowing the beneficiary to purchase the necessary medical device.
CGHS beneficiaries will benefit from this
With the new digital process, CGHS beneficiaries no longer need to wait long for approval.
They will quickly be informed whether their application is approved or rejected.
