From April 10, major changes are coming at toll plazas across the country.
Vehicles without FASTag will no longer be allowed to pass normally.
Even if you carry cash, it will not be accepted at toll booths.
The government is shifting completely to an electronic toll collection system.
This means cash payments at highway toll plazas will be fully stopped.
Only FASTag Will Be Accepted for Toll Payment
Under the new system, only FASTag will be the main method of toll payment.
If your FASTag is active and working, you can pass the toll plaza without any issue.
However, if your FASTag is not working, inactive, or not valid, you may face problems while crossing toll points.
What If You Don’t Have FASTag?
If your vehicle does not have FASTag, you still have an option to pay using UPI in some cases.
But this comes at a higher cost.
UPI payments will attract an extra 25% charge.
For example, if the toll is ₹100, you will have to pay ₹125 using UPI.
So, using FASTag remains the cheapest and most convenient option.
No FASTag and No UPI? Here’s What Happens
If you don’t have FASTag and also cannot pay through UPI, then you may be stopped at the toll plaza.
According to the rules, toll staff can prevent your vehicle from crossing.
In such cases, an e-notice can also be issued for pending payment.
If you pay within 3 days, you can avoid penalties.
But if you delay beyond that, the toll amount may be doubled.
What You Should Do Now
To avoid any trouble, it is strongly advised to install FASTag on your vehicle as soon as possible.
If you already have one, make sure it is activated and your KYC is completed.
This will help you pass through toll plazas smoothly without extra charges or delays.
