BSNL ₹197 Plan: Government-owned telecom company BSNL has brought good news for its users by updating its budget-friendly prepaid plan.
This step is seen as part of BSNL’s strategy to compete with other telecom providers and attract more users ahead of its upcoming 5G launch.
According to reports, BSNL is expected to start its 5G services in Delhi by September 2025. To prepare for this, the company has made important changes to its affordable ₹197 plan.
This plan is especially useful for those who want to keep their mobile number and incoming calls active for a long time without spending much.
Details of the ₹197 Plan (Old Version):
Earlier, BSNL’s ₹197 plan offered 2GB of data, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS. However, these benefits were available only for the first 15 days.
Even though the mobile number stayed active for 70 days, users could only enjoy calling and data services for two weeks. After that, only incoming calls worked.
What Has Changed Now?
Now, BSNL has reduced the validity of the plan from 70 days to 54 days. But this change may actually benefit users more.
That’s because now calling, SMS, and data services are available for the entire 54 days. Users will get 4GB of data, 300 minutes of calling, and 100 SMS for the whole period.
Although unlimited calling has been removed, the data limit has been increased. So even though the plan’s duration is shorter, the full benefits now last the entire time.

This plan is ideal for users who don’t use a lot of mobile data or calling minutes but still want to keep their number active.
