BSNL has revived its much-discussed Rs 1 Freedom Plan, and it’s back for one reason: massive user demand.
The offer, announced through the company’s official X handle, promises “true digital freedom” for just one rupee.
There’s one catch, though — it is only for new BSNL customers.
What You Get in the Rs 1 Freedom Plan
The Rs 1 plan comes with a full 30-day validity and packs benefits you’d usually expect from higher-priced recharge packs.
New BSNL users get 2GB of high-speed 4G data every day, unlimited voice calls across India, national roaming, and 100 SMS per day.
The offer is open in all telecom circles from December 1 to December 31.
To activate it, users simply need to buy a new BSNL SIM card for Re 1.
Existing customers, however, cannot avail the offer.
This makes it clear that the scheme is designed purely to attract fresh subscribers as BSNL prepares for a wider 4G rollout.
Why BSNL Relaunched the Plan
The Freedom Plan isn’t new. BSNL first introduced it in August and extended it until mid-September because of the overwhelming response.
With interest still high, the company has brought it back again as a limited-period December offer.
The plan is part of BSNL’s push to strengthen its user base, especially in semi-urban and rural regions where the operator continues to have strong footing.
BSNL’s Student-Friendly Plan: 100GB for Rs 251
Alongside the Freedom Plan, BSNL is also highlighting its Student Special (Learner’s Plan) priced at Rs 251.
The pack includes 100GB data, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day with a 28-day validity.
Valid until December 13, 2025, this plan is aimed at students and heavy data users looking for affordable options.
Network Expansion in Progress
BSNL is also working on boosting its network coverage.
The company has floated tenders for installing 10,000 new 4G towers in the Delhi telecom circle.
This major expansion move is expected to strengthen connectivity across NCR and support BSNL and MTNL’s ongoing 4G revival.
