State-owned telecom company BSNL has introduced its Quantum 5G (Q-5G) service, offering high-speed mobile broadband without a SIM card or wired connection.
The service is designed for homes and small businesses, with easy plug-and-play hardware and affordable monthly plans, marking a significant step in India’s digital inclusion efforts.
What Is SIM-Free 5G Internet?
Unlike traditional 5G that requires a SIM card, BSNL’s Quantum 5G uses fixed wireless access (FWA) technology.
Users simply install a compatible router or device, which connects wirelessly to nearby 5G towers.
This provides a broadband-like experience over radio signals, delivering fast internet with minimal setup and no physical wiring required.
Affordable Plans for Everyone
At launch, BSNL offers:
100 Mbps plan at around ₹999 per month
300 Mbps plan at around ₹1499 per month for heavy users
Since it doesn’t rely on fibre or SIM cards, users can start using ultra-fast 5G simply by plugging in the router.
This makes it ideal for areas with limited broadband options.
Where It’s Available
The service is currently rolling out in Hyderabad, Pune, and several other urban and semi-urban centers.
BSNL plans to expand coverage over time to reach more regions and bridge connectivity gaps in underserved areas.
Why It Matters for Users
BSNL’s SIM-free 5G offers simplicity, speed, and value — high-speed internet without cables or SIMs, with quick activation.
For households, small businesses, and students, this is a practical alternative to traditional broadband.
As digital connectivity becomes essential for education, work, and entertainment, affordable 5G access can support economic and social growth across India.
