Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially launched BSNL’s 4G network, which is 5G-ready.
On this occasion, he also inaugurated more than 97,500 mobile 4G towers built by BSNL, including 92,600 sites featuring new 4G technology.
These towers were constructed using fully indigenous technology at a cost of around ₹37,000 crore.
With this launch, India becomes one of the top five countries in the world that develop their own telecom technology, joining Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China.
With BSNL’s 4G rollout, all major telecom operators in India—such as Jio, Airtel, and Vi—now offer 4G services.
Future-Ready 5G Network
BSNL’s 4G network is cloud-based and designed to be easily upgraded to 5G. No new hardware is needed; only software updates are required for a smooth transition to 5G.
Additionally, under the Digital India Fund, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s achievement of a 100% 4G saturation network.
As part of this mission-mode project, around 29,000 to 30,000 villages have been connected with high-speed 4G internet.
