Blinkit Introduces Post-Order Item addition for Customers

Quick-commerce platform Blinkit has launched a new feature that lets customers add more items to their cart even after placing an order. CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced this update on Wednesday.
He shared on X:

“New update on Blinkit: You can now add more items after placing an order. Many of you asked for this, and now we’ve made it possible to add more items while packing your order.

There are no additional delivery charges, and you won’t need to place a second order just because you missed something.”

Dhindsa also encouraged users to share suggestions, saying, “If you think we can improve this, please share your feedback with me.”

This feature works only while the original order is still being packed in the warehouse. It removes the need to place a second order and avoids extra delivery fees.

Recent Product Updates by Blinkit

This is Blinkit’s second major update in recent months. In August, it became the first quick-commerce app in India to launch parental controls.

These controls allow users to hide age-restricted categories such as sexual wellness and nicotine by entering a six-digit PIN.

After setting the PIN, the app hides related search results and purchase history. If someone tries to change the settings, the app immediately sends an alert.

Blinkit’s Journey and Market Position

Blinkit started in 2013 as Grofers, partnering with local stores for on-demand delivery. Later, it created its own network of dark stores for faster service.

In 2021, the company rebranded as Blinkit after shifting fully to a 10-minute delivery model.
In 2022, Blinkit was acquired by Zomato and now operates under the Zomato group.

The new cart-addition feature highlights Blinkit’s goal of making daily ordering simpler, helping it stand out in the highly competitive quick-commerce market.

Meanwhile, shares of Blinkit’s parent company Eterna fell slightly on Wednesday, closing 0.93% lower at ₹297.75 on the NSE.
