A major update has surfaced regarding Canada’s visa policy for Indians.
According to media reports, the Canadian government is planning to amend its visa regulations. The proposed bill has already been introduced in the Canadian Parliament.
If you are an Indian living in Canada or planning to move there, it’s important to understand what this bill means
and who it will impact. Interestingly, the United States also has a role in shaping these new visa rules.
More Power to Canadian Officials
The new bill aims to grant Canadian authorities significant power over visa decisions.
Under this proposal, officials will be able to deport Indian immigrants holding temporary visas at any time.
They can also refuse to issue temporary visas to applicants if they choose to.
Reports suggest that these measures will mainly affect immigrants from India and Bangladesh.
U.S. Involvement in the New Visa Rules
According to CBC News, U.S. agencies are working closely with Canadian authorities to identify fraudulent visa applications.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) have reportedly teamed up with U.S. counterparts to enforce these new regulations.
Earlier in August, Ottawa had already rejected 74% of Indian student visa applications.
This trend suggests that Canada’s visa policy for Indians has become notably stricter in recent months.
