Big Subsidies for EV Buyers in Delhi and Maharashtra

There is a big demand for electric vehicles (EVs) in India, especially in Delhi. Delhi has always been a leader in offering subsidies to encourage people to buy EVs.

Recently, Delhi’s new Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, announced that the government will continue giving subsidies to promote electric vehicles in the city.

Rekha Gupta said that the goal is to convert all vehicles, including personal ones, into electric vehicles. To achieve this, the Delhi government is working on a new EV policy.

They will encourage people to buy electric vehicles by providing subsidies. Additionally, to reduce air pollution, 1,000 water sprinklers will be rented and used every year.

These sprinklers will work in the mornings and late at night to help clear dust without causing traffic jams.

New EV Policies in Delhi and Maharashtra

Earlier this year, Delhi drafted a new EV policy to support this vision. For the first time, the draft policy offers tax exemptions for hybrid vehicles.

It proposes waiving road tax and registration fees for hybrid vehicles priced up to Rs 20 lakh.

For all battery electric vehicles, road tax and registration fees will be completely waived during the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 period.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has also introduced a new EV policy. The government announced subsidies of up to Rs 2 lakh on electric cars (four-wheelers) and up to Rs 20 lakh on electric buses.

These benefits will be available for 1 lakh electric two-wheelers, 25,000 commercial four-wheelers, and 1,500 electric buses.

Additionally, no tax will be charged on registration and renewal of EVs, which will help lower the overall cost of buying electric vehicles.
